Processing Your Application

Note the processing steps once you submit your application:
  • you can e-sign your application using the online application or phone application — this allows faster processing of your application without the paperwork and physical signatures
  • a consolidating specialist may need to contact you to verify your loan information — make sure you leave a valid phone number or email address
  • an electronic copy of your application will be sent to your email address for your records — make sure you contact your consolidator if you need to make revisions
  • your consolidator will then certify your information with your lenders and schools (to verify that the loan information is correct)
  • once your loan information has been certified, your consolidator will then work with designated lender who will underwrite your loan
  • you will receive notification from your consolidator and lender that your loans have been consolidated with information on your new loan and payment terms
  • you should continue to make all of your regular payments on the loans that you consolidated until you receive your new Loan Consolidation Disclosure Statement and Repayment Schedule from your new loan servicer
  • the entire process can take about 2-3 weeks
